Temple Moor's Mental Health Practitioner | Elsie Williams
My name is Elsie Williams. I am employed as ‘Mental Health Practitioner’ at Temple Moor High School. I have a BSc(hons) in Psychology with Counselling and Psychotherapy and an MSc in Health Psychology. I am also a soon-to-be trainee Health Psychologist. My main role involves working 1:1 with students over a 12-week period to help improve their mental and emotional wellbeing. I utilise evidence-based frameworks and skills, such as CBT and ACT, to allow students a space to explore troublesome thoughts, feelings, and experiences that they feel important to work through. I like to make sessions as creative as possible, introducing new perspectives and a safe space to talk. Some main problems I help students work through might include relationships, low-mood, anxiety, confidence, stress, and body-image. I am also able to use my role to inform PD curriculum,in turn, encouraging a whole-school approach.
