Year 9 Options
Introduction to the Year 9 Options Process
This page provides an overview of the options process for Year 9 students. In Year 9, we ask students to select a further three options which they would like to study through to Year 11 and receive qualifications in. These complement the option choice which they made at the end of Year 8 and the compulsory subjects of GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature, GCSE Maths, and GCSE Sciences. Key Stage 3 subjects which learners do not choose to take as options, will no longer be studied beyond Year 9.
As part of these options choices, all students are required to select either GCSE History or Geography, alongside 2 open choices.
We would encourage students and parents/carers to review the materials on this page carefully before submitting their options choices. The options booklets provide a comprehensive overview of the process and frequently asked questions.
Options evening is going to be held on 23 February 2026 between 4.30pm - 7pm.
Options choices should be submitted by 27 March 2026, using the paper application form.
