James Simpson

Visit to Temple Moor by James Simpson, Wheelchair Rugby World Cup Ambassador | Tuesday, 3 May 2022

We were very pleased to welcome the truly inspirational James Simpson into school to spend time with our staff and students.

Sadly, James lost both legs on a tour of Afghanistan in 2009. This did not stop James from achieving his goals and ambitions and he is now Leeds Rhinos’ wheelchair captain and a 2021 Rugby League World Cup Ambassador!

James addressed Year 8 students in their assembly and also met Year 7 and Year 9 PE students where he spoke about his aspirations and resilience following his injury whilst on duty in Afghanistan.

James brought along with him Three Rugby League World Cup Trophies which are currently on tour, leading up to the Rugby League World Cup which takes place in England in October this year. Here he is with Miss Matthews, who arranged James’ visit.

Here’s Mr West posing with the trophies … nobody was allowed to touch them!!

It was a really great day and we are honoured to have welcomed James into our school. Both students and staff have loved hearing James talk about his bravery, drive and determination to achieve his ambitions and goals.
