At Temple Moor High School, we believe that every student should have the opportunity to succeed. We are committed to providing an inclusive education where students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) feel valued, supported and fully part of school life.
Our aim is simple: to understand each young person’s needs, remove barriers to learning and provide the right support to help them achieve their potential.
Our approach to SEND focuses on three key areas:
Our high-quality universal offer is at the heart of our approach to SEND. We believe that students' needs should be met, wherever possible, through excellent, inclusive classroom teaching that is accessible and responsive to individual needs.
Teachers use appropriate strategies, adaptations and reasonable adjustments to remove barriers to learning while maintaining high expectations for all. Where students require additional support, this is carefully planned alongside the universal offer to help them make progress and become confident, independent learners.
We want every student to feel that they belong, can participate and can succeed at Temple Moor.
We work closely with students, parents, carers and other professionals to understand individual strengths and needs, remove barriers and put appropriate support in place.
Being in school and feeling part of the school community is important for learning, wellbeing and progress.
We recognise that some students with SEND may experience additional barriers to attendance or engagement. Where this happens, we work with students and families to understand these barriers and provide appropriate support, while maintaining high expectations and aspirations.
Parents and carers are an important part of our approach. By working together, we aim to help students develop the confidence, independence and resilience they need to succeed at school and prepare for their next steps.
We know that high-quality teaching, inclusion and attendance are closely connected. Students are best able to succeed when they are in school, feel that they belong and can access high-quality teaching that meets their needs.
At Temple Moor, we have high expectations for every student. Through strong universal provision, appropriate support and reasonable adjustments, we aim to remove barriers while developing independence, confidence and resilience.
Our ambition is for every student with SEND to attend well, engage fully, achieve highly and be prepared for a successful future.

The Leeds Local Offer provides information for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their parents or carers in a single place.
It shows families what they can expect from a range of local agencies including education, health and social care.
